The Family Engagement and Enrollment Coordinator serves as a member of the Early Childhood Education team to provide a wide range of activities and services to families with children enrolled in the early education program. Guided by the Principles of Family Strengthening and Support, the Coordinator will engage with parents and guardians in relationships based on equality and respect, recognizing their existing strengths, resilience, and resources. The focus of the work for the Coordinator will be to 1) improve communication between educators, specialists, and the children’s families; 2) promote engagement of parents/guardians in their children’s education; and 3) encourage greater family participation in the center’s operation and activities. Responsibilities will include coordinating family events/workshops during the evenings or weekends and participating in local or statewide early education committees. The Coordinator will also serve as the liaison for enrollment and management of childcare financial assistance for eligible families, including outreach, waitlist manage

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Enroll children in accordance with contracting agencies; conduct initial intake and family assessment, including completion of required enrollment registration forms.
  • Determine eligibility for families to access childcare financial assistance according to EEC guidelines; facilitate placement of children on the EEC statewide financial assistance waitlist as needed; ensure that financial assistance eligibility remains current, completing re-assessment as required using the Child Care Financial Assistance (CCFA) system.
  • Maintain monthly statistical data for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grants through the Fall River Community Development Agency.
  • Conduct family needs assessment, making referrals to supportive services and resources as needed, including parenting education, basic needs (food, clothing, childcare, employment, transportation, etc.), and health and wellbeing (mental health, substance abuse treatment).
  • Provide case management as needed to families receiving comprehensive services through the development of a family support plan; Facilitate connection to services as required to meet family support goals; follow up with external case management agencies (DCF, Healthy Families, Early Intervention, etc.) as needed and as permitted by parents/guardians.
  • Attend local and regional meetings as needed to remain informed about available resources for families.
  • Report incidents of suspected abuse or neglect to the Department of Children and Families working in collaboration with the Social Worker, Program Director, and the Vice President of Children’s Services.
  • Work with the program team to deliver annual family engagement and educational programs.
  • Participate actively in program training, meetings, supervision, and evaluation as required.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and required training sessions, including in-service training, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain all program and Agency-required trainings.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge obtained through attainment of a bachelor's degree or three years’ experience working in the human services field.
  • Knowledge of local community-based resources for children and families.
  • Skills in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to understand family support concepts and practices and facilitate parent groups and family activities.
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team-building model.
  • Ability to participate in and undergo extensive orientation, in-service training, and supervisory observation.
  • All candidates must have a qualifying criminal background check. Driver’s license preferred but not required.
