SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing early learning programs for young children (ages 0 – 5). This role involves working directly with the VP of Children's Services and Program Directors to create developmentally appropriate curriculum, providing support to educators, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for children. The coordinator collaborates with staff, families, and community resources to create a high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Curriculum Development & Implementation:
- Work collaboratively with the lead teachers to design and implement age-appropriate and culturally relevant curriculum and activities that align with early childhood standards and best practices, including outdoor/nature-based learning activities.
- Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive and meets the needs of diverse learners, including children with special needs.
- Evaluate, organize, and update learning materials and resources to support age-appropriate child development goals in cognitive, social-emotional, and physical domains.
Staff Training, Supervision, & Support:
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to early childhood educators on instructional strategies, child development, classroom management, and assessment methods.
- Lead professional development sessions and workshops to keep staff updated on current trends and research in early childhood education.
- Support teachers in developing individualized learning plans and strategies to support children with diverse learning needs.
- Complete monthly supervision and annual performance reviews for lead teachers.
- Ensure that all classroom staff members meet EEC-mandated annual training requirements.
- Assist with onboarding and orientation for new staff.
Program Management & Quality Assurance:
- Monitor and assess the quality of classroom environments and interactions between teachers and children using validated tools such as CLASS, ITERS, and ECERS.
- Conduct regular classroom observations to ensure compliance with state and local licensing regulations and quality standards, providing supervision and feedback to lead teachers on a regular basis.
- Develop and implement program improvement plans and track progress.
Family Engagement:
- Foster strong partnerships with families by providing resources, communication, and support that promote children's learning and development.
- Serve as a liaison between families and staff, addressing concerns and supporting a collaborative approach to child development.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of children’s progress, staff training, and program assessments.
- Assist with enrollment, scheduling, and coordination of services for children.
- Provide classroom coverage as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare reports and data as needed for internal use, grants, or funding sources.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, division management team member, or division director.
- Participate in all staff meetings and required training sessions, including in-service training, as scheduled.
- Maintain all program and Agency required trainings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- MA EEC Infant/Toddler and/or Preschool Lead Teacher certification is required; Director certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and working with diverse populations.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development principles, early learning standards, and best practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and inspire a team and work collaboratively with families and community partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, and digital learning platforms
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care regulations, NAEYC accreditation criteria, and ITERS/ECERS/CLASS assessment tools
- Ability to provide a current copy of all required health records
- A qualifying criminal background check and driving record are required; a valid driver’s license is preferred. Must have access to reliable transportation.
