SUMMARY: The employee participates as part of the childcare team to assess, plan and implement program goals for infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ADMINISTRATIVE:
Model positive and professional interactions between children and families and with colleagues and parents.
Ensure that all classroom records and reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner; including: screenings, assessments, curriculum plans, progress reports and other program reports and records.
Maintain knowledge in field through appropriate educational activities; attend required trainings as identified by DEEC, People Incorporated and in Individual Professional Development Plans.
Supervise performance of classroom teachers and assistant teachers; conduct monthly observations of teaching staff and contribute to their performance evaluations; oversee childcare staff relative to developmental activities of the children; orient new team members to classroom routine and curriculum implementation.
Maintain appropriate standards of health and safety in accordance with the state regulations and People Incorporated policies and procedures.
Access and utilize computer technology to complete all required documentation
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in all staff meetings and required training sessions, including in-service training, as scheduled
Maintain all program and Agency required trainings.
PROGRAM/CLASSROOM:
Supervise and lead team in designing and implementing classroom curriculum; implement plans through regularly scheduled activities designed to meet the needs of the entire classroom group and the individual needs of the children. Create lessons plans based on MA Frameworks, Assessment Objectives, HighScope Curriculum, QRIS and NAEYC guidelines which are rooted in research based outcomes.
Implement Positive Behavior strategies and techniques into daily routines and weekly curriculum and contribute to a positive work environment.
FAMILIES/STUDENTS:
Perform and/or oversee parent involvement in classroom activities
Participate in intake process which may include visiting a family in the home.
Participate in parent/teacher conferences which may include visiting a family in the home.
Conduct developmental assessments and provide parents/guardians with a written summary of the childs outcomes during required timeframes.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: You must perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Knowledge obtained through attainment of a Bachelor degree preferred; Associates degree required
Knowledge obtained through a combination of education and experience meeting EEC standards.
Knowledge and skill obtained through a minimum of nine months of work experience in a childcare setting.
Knowledge obtained through appropriate early childhood educator courses.
Skill in interacting appropriately with children, clients and staff.
Ability to meet licensing requirements for a Lead Infant/Toddler or Preschool Teacher.
All candidates must have a qualifying criminal background check. Drivers license preferred but not required.
