Camp Jack Counselor

Pay $15.00

Temporary position - 40 hours.

The Diabetes Association at People, Incorporated is currently seeking Camp Counselors to work at The Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes (Camp Jack) within the dates of July 8th- August 16th 2024. Camp Jack operates from 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. Hours needed may vary. This position requires the employee to attend pre-camp training starting June 24th-June 28th 2024.

SUMMARY: The employee is responsible for maintaining the safety and overview of the assigned age group and providing leadership and support to camp participants, abiding by the State’s and American Camp Association’s guidelines and protocols and adhering to all Covid safety and sanitization protocols. .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Attend trainings and educational programming as required.

2. Act as main role model for assigned group.

3. Assist with implementation of scheduled camp activities.

4. Assist Program Leaders in activities and maintain order of assigned group at all times.

5. Enforce program safety rules and perform minor first aid on campers when necessary.

6. Maintain safe, clean camp environment and report any concerns to Camp Coordinator.

7. Provide creative support for special days and all other camp activities.

8. Plan back-up activities for campers during any down time.

9. Report all unusual activity to Camp Coordinator.

10. Solve problems and manage behaviors when necessary.

11. Assume Bus Monitor responsibilities as needed to include:

12. Sign campers on and off the bus utilizing the sign-in/out protocol. Perform any Covid required screenings, as well as verifying the authorized person(s) pick up sheet, requiring proper identification.

13. Ensure that all campers are following the bus safety rules; staying seated, keeping hands and feet to themselves and refrain from screaming and/or shouting. Campers will need to follow mask wearing guidelines which may be updated throughout the camp season.

14. Document all incidents on the bus incident report form.

QUALIFICATION

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Ability to provide current copy of CPR/FA certification and required health records.

- Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
